Individual Outpatient Therapy

Individual therapy provides a private, supportive space where youth and adults can talk openly about the challenges they are experiencing and work toward meaningful change. At Kalamazoo Empowerment Services, therapy is individualized to each person's needs, goals, strengths, and circumstances.

Therapy may help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; develop healthy coping skills; improve relationships; manage stress and emotional challenges; heal from difficult experiences; and build confidence and resilience.  Our goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can learn, heal, grow, and move forward.

Mental Wellness Workshops

Our Mental Wellness Workshops bring practical, engaging mental health education into workplaces, schools, community organizations, and other settings where people live, work, and connect.

We partner with employers and community organizations to create customized workshops that support employee well-being, strengthen morale, improve communication, and encourage healthier, more supportive environments. Topics can be tailored to the needs of each organization and may include stress management, burnout prevention, emotional wellness, healthy boundaries, coping skills, resilience, relationships, and recognizing when it may be time to seek support.

Our workshops also help break the stigma surrounding mental health and asking for help. By making conversations about emotional wellness more comfortable and accessible, we help normalize seeking support—including therapy—as a healthy part of taking care of yourself.

Whether we're working with a workplace team or a community group, our goal is to create meaningful conversations, provide practical tools, and remind people that mental wellness is part of overall wellness—and reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Group Therapy

Group therapy brings individuals together in a safe, supportive environment where they can learn, connect, and grow alongside others with similar experiences or goals.

Groups are facilitated by trained professionals and provide opportunities to develop practical skills while receiving encouragement, feedback, and support.  Depending on the group, topics may include emotional wellness, coping skills, relationships, substance use and recovery, communication, self-esteem, stress management, and personal growth.

Group therapy can help clients build connection, strengthen healthy coping strategies, increase self-awareness, and recognize that they are not alone in the challenges they are facing.

Supervision/ Consultation

At Kalamazoo Empowerment Services, supervision and consultation provide professionals and emerging practitioners with guidance, support, accountability, and practical tools to grow with confidence in the human services field.

Led by Deanna Omoniyi, LMSW, CAADC, ADS, our supervision and consultation services are designed to help professionals navigate clinical and professional challenges, identify and overcome barriers to career advancement, and develop the skills needed to build a meaningful and sustainable career.

Supervision and consultation may include:

  • Professional goal setting and career planning

  • Clinical skill development and professional growth

  • Navigating challenging cases and workplace situations

  • Building confidence and professional identity

  • Identifying and overcoming barriers to career advancement

  • Challenging imposter syndrome and self-doubt

  • Developing effective communication, leadership, and advocacy skills

  • Strengthening ethical and professional decision-making

  • Preparing for increased responsibility and leadership roles

  • Connecting education and training to real-world practice

Our approach is supportive, honest, and growth-focused. We believe professionals don't have to figure everything out on their own. Sometimes the right guidance, encouragement, and challenge can help you see possibilities you couldn't see for yourself.

Whether you are a student, emerging professional, provisionally licensed clinician, or experienced practitioner looking to grow, our goal is to help you build confidence, strengthen your skills, remove barriers, and become the professional you aspire to be.

SEL Groups for Youth

Our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) groups help children and teens develop the skills they need to understand themselves, navigate relationships, manage emotions, and make healthy decisions. Through engaging, age-appropriate activities, discussion, creative expression, and hands-on learning, youth have opportunities to build confidence and discover their strengths.

Groups may focus on emotional awareness, communication, self-esteem, coping skills, problem-solving, conflict resolution, empathy, resilience, and healthy relationships.

Our goal is to give young people practical tools they can use at home, at school, and in their everyday lives—while creating a positive space where they can connect, learn, and grow.

KES Kids Club

KES Kids Club goes beyond traditional youth programming. Children have the opportunity to explore creative arts, connect with peers, build social-emotional skills, and discover their own potential in a fun, supportive environment.

Through hands-on art experiences, children create original products that they can proudly share and sell to others. Along the way, they are introduced to real-world entrepreneurial skills such as:

  • Creative Expression — Explore different art forms and discover individual talents and interests.

  • Social Connection — Build friendships, practice communication, collaborate with peers, and develop a sense of belonging.

  • Entrepreneurship — Learn how to turn creativity into an opportunity by creating products and learning how to sell them.

  • Customer Engagement & Service — Practice talking with customers, presenting their work, answering questions, and creating positive interactions.

  • Pricing & Budgeting — Learn the basics of determining prices, understanding costs, budgeting, and making thoughtful financial decisions.

  • Confidence & Self-Efficacy — Experience the pride of creating something with their own hands and seeing others value their work.

  • Life Skills — Develop skills in communication, problem-solving, responsibility, decision-making, teamwork, and persistence.

More Than Making Art

Children aren't just learning how to make something—they're learning what they can do with what they create.

KES Kids Club gives young people the opportunity to create it, price it, talk about it, sell it, and be proud of it. These experiences help children recognize their strengths, develop confidence, and begin thinking like creators, entrepreneurs, and leaders.

The skills they build aren't just for today. They're skills they can carry with them for a lifetime.
